WGAWNY Tournament Guide

TOURNAMENT GUIDE FOR PLAYERS

The WGAWNY Representative from the host club is the tournament chairman of the event.

 

Contestants are responsible for submitting entries on Golf Genius (GG) before the published deadline for the total fee that includes cart and meals.

 

Registration opens 8 weeks before each event and closes 2 weeks before each event.

 

NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED BEFORE THE OPENING DATE.

 

Signing up on Golf Genius as early as possible helps with planning process for host clubs and those running events  

 

LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

 

Use your Golf Genius username (usually your email address) and password for live scoring. GGIDs are not used. 

 

Pairings and tee times are posted on GG before events, and as made available by each host pro shop. The refund policy is spelled out below. 

 

Pairings, once published by the GG Admin, are the responsibility of the Club Rep and her Club Pro.

¨ Any changes may be made by the Committee only.

¨ No one can request special pairings.

¨ The pairings are made strictly by handicap except that we try to mix Buffalo and Rochester players in each group.

¨ Players who change their pairings without permission shall be disqualified.

¨ Pairings and tee times will be available in golf genius two days before the event
by hole and by flight.

¨ Players who sign up late (due to special circumstances) may be placed in the field as determined by the Club Pro. 

 

If the tournament field must be limited for any reason, entries will be accepted in the order they are received on GG.

 

Golfers needing a partner for team events should reach out to the tournament director.

 

The WGAWNY does not allow caddies, coaches, parents or spectators at events.

Cancelation Policy (also posted on WGAWNY Golf Genius site):

 

¨ A player may cancel their registration by sending an email to
WGAWNYNEWS2 (at) gmail.com. 

¨ Refunds are returned on the credit or debit card that was used to pay for the event.  

¨ 14 days or more prior to the event, you will receive a full refund minus the GG sign-up and transaction fee of $5. 

¨ 13 to 7 days prior to the event, you will receive a 50% refund minus the GG sign-up and transaction fee of $5. 

¨ 6 days or less prior to the event, no refunds will be given unless you have an extraordinary exception due to a personal issue. 

 

Handicap Indexes:

 

Handicap 80% after adjustment for rating/slope. Maximum handicap index 28.4 with a maximum of 1 stroke on Par 3’s. This applies to the 4-Gal and the 2-Gal events.

Championship Specifics:

 

Day One play determines the following:

¨ Medalist Champion (from the Regular division only)

¨ Senior Champion (from the Senior Division only) TROPHY AWARDED

¨ Super Senior Champion (from the Super Senior Division only) TROPHY AWARDED

¨ Day Two qualifier cut

 

 

Cut for Day 2 Play:

 

The top 16, ties, and players within ten shots of the leader from the entire Day One field
(those who have opted to play both days at entry submission)
will move on to compete for Overall Champion on Day Two. Qualifiers and tee times will be announced by the Pro Shop. A cart fee will be due prior to Day Two play. 

¨ Day Two Start:  Tee times for the qualifiers.

¨ Day Two Pairings: The Pro Shop shall determine the pairings for Day Two.  Pairings are made based on the scores from Day One, with the lower scores going out last. 

¨ There are no flights on Day Two.

Winners:

 

Day Two winners are based on their combined gross scores from Day One and Day Two.

The lowest Gross Score for the 2 days is Overall Champion.  Runner-up is the next lowest score. Third Ppace and additional places are then determined until the appropriate number of places are paid.

 

Day One Ties:

Senior Champion and Super Senior Champion ties are broken by a Sudden Death Playoff.

All other ties on Day One are broken by USGA Rules match of cards (back 9, final 6, final 3).

 

Day Two Ties:  

 

A tie for Overall Champion is broken by a Sudden Death Playoff.  

All other ties are broken by a match of cards (back 9, final 6, final 3).

Day Two Trophy:

 

The Overall Champion Trophy is awarded on Day Two.

 

Note: The competition is final when the winners have been announced, or, in the absence
of a prize ceremony, when
ALL scores have been posted and approved by the Committee.

 

 

Dress Code:

 

Golf skirts, skorts and shorts, all not more than 3 inches above the knee, slacks, capris, shirts with sleeves and/or sleeveless shirts with collars ARE acceptable. 

 

Short shorts, tank tops, tennis-length shorts and jeans are NOT acceptable at any WGAWNY event. 

 

Players who do not comply will be given the opportunity to change, wear rain pants or buy appropriate attire from the host pro shop. 

 

Failure to honor this policy will result in disqualification from the event. 

 

All WGAWNY members dining inside the host clubhouse following play must remove all visors, caps and hats.

 

It’s important that we respect our host clubs so the Western dress code should be the dress code followed for every event.
