WGAWNY Player Code of Conduct

For Membership and All WGAWNY Competitions

The WGAWNY respects the dress code for our host clubs. It’s important that
we respect our host clubs so the Western dress code should be the
dress code followed for every event. Player Code of Conduct.

~ Players who do not comply will be given the opportunity to change, wear rain pants or buy appropriate attire from the host pro shop.

~ Failure to honor this policy will result in disqualification from the event.

~ All WGAWNY members dining inside the host clubhouse following play must remove all visors, caps and hats.

Code of Conduct:  The WGAWNY is committed to providing a safe and positive environment in which everyone is treated with mutual respect. Anyone violating this policy may be disqualified and/or expelled from the organization.

Player Code of Conduct

The Women’s Golf Association of Western New York (the Western or WGAWNY) reserves the right to accept, decline or withdraw any member’s entry at any time. Any member whose entry is accepted shall be subject to the rules and conditions of play set by the Western. The reason for rejection of entry may include, but is not limited to, unbecoming conduct. The purpose of this Policy is to ensure a safe and positive environment at Western events, making sure that all individuals and host staff are aware that there is an expectation of appropriate behavior, consistent with USGA competition rules.

The relationship we have with host clubs is critical to the ongoing success of the WGAWNY. If a club advises the WGAWNY board that a player is in arrears, suspended from membership, ineligible for full golfing privileges, or is not welcome at an event for any reason, the Western officers will respect the wishes of that club. No exceptions.

In such cases where a member is suspended from her primary club or a past club, or she is banned from any Western member club, her membership in WGAWNY is suspended. For reinstatement, a letter from her club(s) stating that she is in good standing with full golf privileges should be provided to the Western president. Members moving from one club to another must request a change in writing prior to re-registration.

We are committed to providing an environment in which everyone is treated with mutual respect. Incidents of unbecoming conduct or actions deemed to be detrimental to the image of the Western or the “Spirit of the Game” are unacceptable. Any Individual who violates this Policy during a Tournament/Event may be disqualified from the Tournament/Event and the Individual may be subject to additional discipline, including expulsion from the organization.

Disorderly behavior, including:

~ Verbal or physical abuse, or threats of abuse, to other players or staff;

~ Unbecoming conduct including excessive use of profanity, club throwing;

~ Consuming alcohol on the golf course during play;

~ Damage to the golf course including failure to care for the course, and including, but not limited to filling or replacing divots, repairing ball marks, raking bunkers, or
following cart rules.

All food & beverage policies of the host club should be followed. Members may not bring alcohol on to a host course property for consumption on the property.

Members must abide by the host club's rules including dress code (note that the Western organization dress code may be stricter than a host club’s rules and should be followed).

Failure to post scores for handicapping purposes or manipulation of scores for handicapping purposes goes against the Spirit of the Game. Remember to properly post all scores.

Please note that by entering a WGAWNY competition, all participants agree that there are certain risks inherent in the game of golf and accept personal and sole liability for all such risks, including, but not limited to, any health-related risks.
